Haha, dun worry. I do admit that R+V has the shittiest RAWs among all the RAWs we usually use to clean manga, but nothing is impossible to clean, no matter how bad the RAWs are.

So now, let's comment your test.

In overall, it was quite good for a first try. Cleaning manga is not an easy task, but practise makes perfection in the scanlation business!

Here I will point out some mistakes I could see:

-You under-leveled your pages. When cleaning, the most easy-to-make mistakes are overleveling (most frequent) and underleveling. Overleveling is when you level way too much your page, and the greys end almost black, the lineart becomes so sharp that almost disappears, etc. Underleveling is when you don't level your page all you could have leveled it; the blacks are not as black as they should, the greys are way too soft and the whites have some dust.

Of course, it's better to underlevel than to overlevel, since you can somewhat save your work with another adjustment leveling if it is the first case; if you overleved your page, then you are pretty much screwed xD

-Your grays have some dust. Did you use Topaz or NeatImage?

-Some parts of the pages are blurred (use lower values when denoising next time )

-The blacks are not burned (but since the page is not completely leveled, as I mentioned before, this point isn't very important. I should see how your blacks end with a correct leveling).

-You didn't crop & resize. This is the one of the most important steps of all; not only because nobody wants to read a 3000 px. page, but also, when you resize, you get an anti-alias effect in your pages that makes all your life easier! When you resize, the parts that are too sharp become smoother, the dust in the blacks almost disappear and the greys get jagged, getting a sexy pattern

Don't get sad because you got this enormous list of mine as feedback I can assure you I got an even bigger one when I first started scanlating xD

Re-do the pages again following this tutorial and the comments I wrote before. And remember: practise makes perfection!

The leveling is somewhat better, but you forgot to resize again. Also, you should get Topaz Denoise; Neat Image died long ago, nobody uses it anymore (sleepyfans is the only one still using it, and their scans are LQ). No matter how strong the denoise is (and in this case it was wayyy to strong, it left all the page uber-blurred), if you are using Neat Image you will never get a good result.

My point is: it isn't a matter of the values you use, it's a matter of the software you are using instead

My advice: get and use Topaz. This link will lead you to a thread where you can get it, along with it's serial. Re-do your pages again using that denoising software.

I installed topaz 301 but when i open up a raw it won't allow me to denoise http://www.sendspace.com/file/0pxxzl as seen here what do i do

I can't open your file, buuuut I think I know your problem, because I had problems with raw manga when I downloaded topaz too.

You do as the instalation tutorial say, instal, open a pic in ps, go to "Filter>Topaz labs", but "Topaz labs" are grayed out. If this is your problem, then just do as I say and it should work, if not then I don't think I can help you :/

1. Raw manga is always (i think..) in grayscale. Topaz doesn't work on grayscale, so you have to change the pic to RGB-color. You do that by going to "Image>Mode". , simply press "RGB-color".

2. You should now be able to use topaz. Does it work? Good. Use it.

3. It might be some color in your pic now, but don't worry! When you are done with topas you change back to grayscale, simply go to "Image>Mode", and yes you guessed it, press on grayscale. You pic should now be denoised and in grayscale. Hope that this worked for you

Well, the difference between Topaz and Neat Image is noticeable, and you also resized your pages, which is good too. However, as I said before, you commited the most common mistake when cleaning: you overleveled way too much your pages, and you also sharpened them too much.

My recommendations:

*Try a higher denoise value with the Bbub page. The others seem to had the correct Topaz value but they are still overleveled.
*Level your pages like you leveled the ones in your second test.
*Burn your blacks and do any redraws that you need to do BEFORE resizing the page. Also, the second leveling (remember the cleaning process: level -> denoise -> level) should be done before resizing too.
*Don't be afraid of using moderate values of Topaz (not too much, not too little); if the page ends a little blur right after the denoise, don't worry! when you level the whites (again, in your second leveling) and resize the page, it should end good and sexy
