One more Thing. On the psyren image was i suppose to erase the txt that wasn't in a bubble. I wasn't sure weather to keep it or not so i just got rid of them to show you that i can if needed. Also Sorry about

Ok so i went back to the drawing board. started over and played anround with this for a while until i think i got the hang of it. So here they are again. Hopefully better.

Hi there Dark! Since Jam is a bit busy, I was asked to supervise your application.

Well, the blacks are burned, and you also redrawed the (Psyren) page, which is very good. However, your whites are not leveled correctly (they are not completely white, more like an uber-soft tone of grey).

Also, have you used Neat Image or Topaz as the denoising software? If you used Neat Image, try switching it with Topaz, it will give you better results; if you did use Topaz, try lower values Razz

The pages are a little blur and some lineart was destroyed in the process (lineart being damaged while denoising is something inevitable, thats why a cleaner's objective is making that "damage" being as less noticeable as possible Razz

).

With a little more practise, and some minor adjustment in your settings here and there, you will become a very capable cleaner (you already more or less grasped the basics in your first attempts). But what about TSing? No cleaner is actually a cleaner without knowing how to TS xP So I will give you this little test.

Thank you for the tip i noticed the uber soft gray as well. I didn't really know how to fix it. It may be my screen resalution but when i whiten the whites it seems to become the picture seems to become hard more linear also kind of hard to look at lol. I am also tring to improve my redrawing ability here is one a raw i thought was a bit of a challenge. also i will waste no time in learning to TS so see you again in a couple of hours.

The redraws are very nice, though you still use very high settings in your denoise Razz

Remember the basic steps: leveling -> denoise -> leveling. I say this cuz the last leveling helps making the lineart thinner and sharper (when you level the whites and blacks), and therefore, it reduces drastically the ammount of blur a page has.

Also, something I noticed: are you resizing your pages before cleaning them? (cuz the RAW page properties say that the page is 1170 px. high, and I dunno if it's cuz the Image hosting resized it or something like that).

Btw, you sure you don't wanna do the TSer test also? It's not something you must "learn" (after all, it's the easiest thing to do while scanlating). Remember that no group fully redraws a page; when you are doing a speedscan, every minute counts, so we don't waste time doing an enormous redraw that will be almost covered with the TSed text afterwards. Usually, when I have a page that needs to be redrawed, I TS it myself, and then, when I have to redraw, I only redraw the noticeable part (aka: the part that wasn't covered with the text). That's why knowing how to TS is also important for a cleaner Razz

Anyway, just do one or two pages more (you can use the RAW chapter I posted before) having in mind the tips before. Try to end with a sharper page, not one that is blurred or has blurred parts. It would be nice if you also TSed them, though no-one is forcing you to anything Razz

The psyren redraw I did was before reading your post about the smoothness so i hope these will be sharper I used a lower denoising frequency. I had some trouble with the last page i chose to do so im not sure how the TS came out. And yes i do want to do TS as well i find it more fun to do all three. Very Happy

O and to answer your question no i do not resize it. lol i thought that is how you were suppose to Clean or redraw them. Ooops does it effect the outcome of the image i hope not. I am resizing them now as i upload them sorry about that

As i preview the pictures they look alot blurrier than they did in photoshop Hmm. I may be saving them wrong or something i did not reformat them so i can't think of why they come out blurrier when i upload them. I'll load them up somewhere else to see if they look the same. if its doesn't its just the host or if they do then it's a problem on my end. I seem to not be able to get this right. Thanx for the patience putting up with me this long. Smile

The cleans look much better! Nice job ^^

Also, the blurriness you see is probably cuz you are seeing the images resized (the forum resizes automatically the pages that are posted in [IMG] tags, and even 1 px. of reduction distorts the page and makes it a little blurrier). I recommend you to upload them on Imageshack and posting the link to the image without the tags (thats what I do when I try some new cleaning technique and I want to see how it may look in an online reader Razz

)

Also, you should resize AFTER you have cleaned and redrawed the page; that way you can get an anti-alias effect that leaves the blacks with less dust, smooths the lineart so it isnt TOO sharp, and also makes the redraws less noticeable.

I am glad you also like to TS ^^ The only thing I recommend you is to use a smaller font, and a smaller stroke if you are TSing over a redrawed page (the text should occupy 50% to 70% of the bubble space, and the stroke should be from 3 px. to 6 px.). Also, NEVER use the default fonts Razz

Download Wild Words, CC Jam Lee, Yikes! and Zud Juice. Those are the most common fonts used in scanlation.

Well, you improved a lot in a very short time! Tomorrow you will be made a trainee. You still require some further training, but you completed the basics, well done! ^^

Unzip them wherever you want. Then copy the files and paste them in C:/Windows/fonts

PS: CC Astro City and ZeroGene are also part of the most used fonts, and I forgot to mention them in my previous post ">.<

Well, the page looks terrible xP But it wasn't your fault at all; you used a super LQ page (cam pics are LQ RAWs), and therefore, having a good page as an outcome was impossible.

Remember, we are a MQ/HQ scan group, not a LQ or a LQ/MQ scanlation team. Therefore, we always use RAWs that are HQ (3000 px.) or MQ (more than 1200 px.). We will never use LQ RAWs for one of our scans, since we think quality is a must while reading manga (and obviously, quality cannot be archieved with a LQ page Razz

).

Summarizing: Don't even bother to edit a LQ page. If it isn't 3000px. high or more, just don't use it.

PS: The TSing was great! Razz

(at least in the bottom part of the page. The upper bubbles have their text too big or not properly centered). Remember that the font size you used in the last panel is the font size you should always use while Tsing (50%-70% of the bubble space).

Haha, I know. It's simply too adorable :3

Also, I dunno if you read it (cuz I had edited my post), but the TSing was more or less pretty good! Just beware to center the text, and also beware of the font-size. Also, don't stick with a single font for all the text Razz

Switch it if is a bubble- a text square - a shout - a thought - etc.
