PostSubject: Re: Applying for Japanese Translator   Applying for Japanese Translator - Page 2 EmptySun Dec 05, 2010 5:49 am

6) Therefore (In that case), let's do it together, you and I…
Rather than "doing it together", the line implies more that Aoi chooses to be a nurse so that can stay together (forever). It's hard to say it in English though, English sucks :<

4) We’ll use that money to buy the card we need!!
Rather than just card, the censor probably refers to "Carddass", a Bandai company that releases trading cards.

Kira cards are what we call holographics. from Kira kira

Aoi is very calm and talks politely I wouldn't put exclamation marks on any of her lines.

1) Kidou Shinryuu (New Way): (I am their) Kenjutsu (similar but not exactly fencing, so here that should not be used) Assistant Instructor... Kidou Aoi
I seriously doubt the kids are learning anything under her...

2) Shame on you for being a coward who threatens when he is safe (with a posse).
They're threatening in numbers, cos it's 2 vs 1.

4) Who's gonna take orders from you? Yo!
Rather than adding a random "Yo!" there, just move "you?" to the next bubble and add an exclamation mark.

7) You're probably the shameful one, right?
He's saying something more like: "You should be the one who's ashamed, right?"

1) I'm not gonna say it a third time. Get the fuck out of here (right now)!
Like I said earlier, I wouldn't have Aoi swear.

3) Just please replace the bandage and cleanse it every day, ok?
To me, cleanse sounds more like you're removing a curse, so I'd use disinfect or sterilise... cleanse isn't wrong, but meh...

6) Thank you, piggy panties's (big sis)! (Don’t know what word to use here since there is no relation between the two girls…it’s a very cultural saying)
Maybe "Thank you to you too, big sis in the piggy panties"

9) No... It’s nothing like that!
This line is more Aoi telling the girl not to worry about/ignore the comment, so you could reword it a little to be less literal.

a "choume" is a district or an area rather than a single street. so "Area 4" would be a more accurate translation vs 4th Steet.

You still pass, but I just wanted to point out these small inconsistencies.

Ohhh, I see...

I thought here she was making herself seem superior by raising her title. It could be something like, "New Way School: Kenjutsu Assistant Instructor... Kidou Aoi"

abcd9146 wrote:

They're threatening in numbers, cos it's 2 vs 1.

Yeah, you're right. Just that, as I was proofreading, I didn't like how it was, and hence changed it to sound more flowy.

abcd9146 wrote:

True. Makes complete sense.

abcd9146 wrote:

I should've caught that one, lol. Thanks! Maybe reverse the verb: "You're the one who should be ashamed, right?"

abcd9146 wrote:

Like I said earlier, I wouldn't have Aoi swear.

Kk so, "Get out of here right now!" Also, is "Get the hell out of here!" acceptable?

Yeah, same for me...but meh.

Maybe "Thank you to you too, big sis in the piggy panties"

Ohhh, that was my fault. I thought he was talking about Hiyori-chan.

Maybe "No... Don't mind him / It's nothing!"?

Gotcha...wasn't sure so I went with it.
